CoCAP Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-05-08
This Privacy Policy explains what information CoCAP ("the App", "we", "us", "our") collects, how we use it, and the rights you have over your data.
1. Information you provide
When you create an account or use the App you provide:
- Account information — name, email address, password.
- Children profiles — names, dates of birth, photos, and any health, allergy, or custody information you record.
- Co-parent invitations — the email address of a co-parent you invite.
- Messages and notes — content of messages you send to a co-parent.
- Expenses and receipts — amounts, categories, descriptions, and receipt images you upload.
- Subscription information — purchase metadata received from Apple or Google.
2. Information collected automatically
- Device data — device model, OS version, language, and crash logs.
- Push notification tokens — used only to deliver notifications you have opted into.
- No third-party tracking — CoCAP does not link your in-app activity with third-party data for advertising and does not share your information with data brokers. We do not use the iOS App Tracking Transparency framework; our subscription provider's SDK (RevenueCat) includes defensive references to ATT internally, but CoCAP itself never collects your IDFA, never shares it with third parties, and does not present a tracking permission prompt.
3. How we use your information
We use the information described above to:
- provide the App and its features (calendar, custody schedule, expenses, messaging, exports);
- authenticate you and prevent abuse;
- deliver subscriptions through Apple/Google billing;
- send you push notifications you have requested;
- respond to support requests;
- improve the App through internal usage metrics derived from your activity within CoCAP.
We do not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for advertising.
4. Sharing with co-parents
CoCAP is a co-parenting tool, so some of your content is intentionally shared with the co-parent you have linked. Children profiles, custody schedules, expenses marked as shared, and messages you send are visible to your co-parent. Personal expenses and notes you keep private are not shared.
5. Service providers
We use the following processors to operate the App; each receives only the data needed for its function:
- Convex — backend database and serverless functions.
- RevenueCat — subscription receipt validation.
- Apple / Google — auth, push notifications, billing.
- Resend — transactional email (account verification, password reset).
- Expo — push notification delivery.
We do not transfer your data to any other third party.
6. Data retention
We retain account and content data for as long as your account exists. When you permanently delete your account, we hard-delete your personal records and push tokens. For shared data (children, custody history, messages) we transfer ownership to your co-parent if one exists, or hard-delete it. We retain anonymized audit log entries for security and compliance for up to 24 months.
7. Your rights
You can:
- access and correct your account data from the Profile screen;
- export your messages and expenses from the in-app Export screen;
- permanently delete your account from the Profile screen;
- contact support@cocap.app to request deletion of specific records.
Depending on where you live (e.g. EU, UK, California), you may have additional rights such as data portability or the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
8. Children's data
CoCAP is intended for use by adult co-parents to manage information about their children. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children. Information about children is supplied by the parent who creates the profile and is governed by the Service Agreement between us and that parent.
9. Security
We use industry-standard encryption (TLS in transit, encrypted-at-rest storage) to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong password and keep your device locked.
10. Changes
We may update this Policy. Material changes will be surfaced in the App and will require your acceptance before continued use.
11. Contact
Privacy questions can be sent to privacy@cocap.app.
